Location

The Minos Mare hotel is located directly on the Blue Flag-awarded sandy beach of Platanias near Rethymnon. With its courteous service and manageable size, it is an excellent retreat for relaxing holidays. The center of Rethymnon is about 5 km away from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and tavernas are in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion Airport is approx. 78 km and to Chania Airport is 72 km.

The modern and appealing complex is a schauinsland-reisen original. With a total of 121 rooms, it features a lobby with a 24-hour reception, Wi-Fi (included), a main restaurant, an à la carte restaurant (seasonal and weather-dependent), a mini-market, a small library, and a souvenir shop. In the lush garden area, there is a pool bar with shaded seating, surrounded by palm trees. The freshwater swimming pool with sun terrace and separate children's pool invites you to relax. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included by the pool and on the beach. Beach towels are included upon deposit.

The friendly furnished rooms have a shower/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, centrally controlled air conditioning (included), a rental safe, Wi-Fi (included), telephone, satellite TV, mini-fridge (one bottle of water included on arrival), coffee/tea making facilities, tiled floor, and a balcony or terrace (D).
Optionally, with the same amenities, double rooms for single use (DE) or slightly more spacious double rooms facing the pool and with a whirlpool bathtub instead of a shower, bathrobes, and slippers (DP/PID) can also be booked.

Breakfast (7:30 AM - 10:30 AM), lunch (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM), and dinner (7:00 PM - 9:30 PM) are served buffet-style in the main restaurant, featuring Greek and international dishes.
A light lunch with finger food is available at the "Aphrodite" bar (12:30 PM - 2:30 PM). Once per stay, a 5-course dinner is included at the "Poseidon" restaurant (open seasonally and weather-dependent, reservations required).
Snacks are available at the "Aphrodite Bar" from 10:45 AM to 4:00 PM, ice cream from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and coffee/tea with cakes and cookies as well as desserts in the afternoon from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Water, soft drinks, tea, and filter coffee are included with meals and at the respective open bar from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the respective open bar.

Information on climate resilience fee

For stays from January 1, 2018, the Greek government has implemented a climate resilience fee, which must be paid by guests on-site, similar to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of accommodation and, as of January 1, 2025, ranges from 0.50 Euro to 15 Euros per day per room.
For stays during high season April 1 - October 31:
National category 1-2 stars: 2 Euros
National category 3 stars: 5 Euros
National category 4 stars: 10 Euros
National category 5 stars: 15 Euros
For stays during low season November 1 - March 31:
