Location

The Hotel Alte Post is located in the wonderful region of Tirol, in immediate proximity to the center of Ellmau. The hotel boasts a beautiful panoramic location at approx. 820m above sea level. The nearest cafes and restaurants can be found after approx. 150m, and the nearest attractions, such as the Kaiserbad indoor swimming pool (approx. 1.3 km away), are also quickly accessible. The hotel is ideally suited for alpine skiers and cross-country skiers in winter. A free ski bus runs according to the schedule available locally. The ski bus stop is located directly at the hotel. For beginner skiers, a ski school and a practice lift are available at a distance of approx. 250m. The Hartkaiserbahn cable car in the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski area is about 1.5 km from the hotel. The nearest cross-country ski trail is only about 200m away.

In summer, hotel guests can explore the region's wonderful landscape on great hiking tours, passing by lush meadows and green forests. Especially in summer, swimming at Going lake (approx. 2.5 km away) offers an excellent combination of experiencing nature and engaging in sports activities in and around Ellmau.

Ski area Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental:
Altitude: approx. 620-1,829 m
The 9 villages of Ellmau, Söll, Scheffau, Going, Westendorf, Brixen im Thale, Kelchsau, Hopfgarten, and Itter together form the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski area, requiring only one ski pass for all villages. This top winter sports region, with its perfectly groomed slopes, extends to snow-sure altitudes and offers off-piste areas, a race course, various snow-making facilities, and a magnificent panorama. Furthermore, it features a clear piste map with detailed information boards. Due to its children's area, it is ideally suited for children's first skiing experiences. With floodlights switched on, the slopes can also be enjoyed at night. Not only skiers will get their money's worth, as the area is considered a cross-country skiing Eldorado with approx. 70 km of classic cross-country ski trails. Those who want to send holiday greetings directly from the slopes to their friends and acquaintances will also find Wi-Fi hotspots in the ski area for this purpose. Various refreshment stops and, of course, après-ski opportunities ensure sociability off the slopes as well as warming drinks and snacks in between. 5 snow parks also promise plenty of fun.
