The Quinta do Arco by Pestana is our insider tip for those seeking tranquility or romantic getaways. Nestled amidst the green mountains of northern Madeira, it's an ideal base for hiking. Harmoniously integrated into the rural life of the region, you'll enjoy peaceful days here, far from the hustle and bustle of the island's capital, Funchal, in the south. In the small village of “Arco de Sao Jorge,” you'll find shops and the popular restaurant “The Arco.” Funchal is about a 50-minute drive (50 km) away. Madeira’s international airport is approximately 37 km away. We recommend booking a rental car (EDV code: FNC150A).

Built in 2003, the Quinta features a total of 18 country-style units spread across detached villas set within lush gardens. Surrounded by abundant subtropical plants, fruit trees, and the largest rose collection in Portugal, a stroll through the charming and extensive grounds is a must. The Quinta also offers a reception (open 8 am-midnight), the restaurant 'Casa de Cha' (open for special occasions only), a small bar with a fireplace, a billiard table, a library, and 2 outdoor pools with verandas, seating areas, and hammocks.

Accommodation

Villa

The individually decorated, approximately 60 m² detached villas are surrounded by subtropical gardens and feature a bathtub with toilet and hairdryer, a charming living area with a fireplace (firewood included in winter months), a well-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, and breakfast table, a separate bedroom, Wi-Fi (included), cable TV, telephone, and minibar (for a fee), as well as a terrace or balcony with views of the gardens and the impressive mountains.
3rd/4th person (adults and children) can only be booked upon request!

Villa Duplex

The Duplex villas have the same amenities as the regular villas but are larger. The bedroom is usually located on the upper floor.

The Garden View Studios feature a bathroom with a shower, toilet, two single beds (twin), a kitchenette with a microwave, electric hob, sofa bed, cable TV (flat screen), terrace, and garden view.

The Partial Sea View Studios feature a bathroom with a shower, toilet, two single beds (twin), a kitchenette with a microwave, electric hob, sofa bed, cable TV (flat screen), terrace, and partial sea view.

Meals

Breakfast/Half Board

Buffet breakfast at the "O Roseiral" restaurant. For half board, dinner is also served as a 3-course menu at the "O Roseiral" restaurant. The "O Roseiral" restaurant is located approximately 100 meters away. There is no shuttle bus to the "O Roseiral" restaurant.

Important Note Regarding Christmas Meals

The "O Roseiral" restaurant is closed on December 25th. Hotel guests with half board (HP) will receive their Christmas Eve dinner to take away on December 24th. Further information will be provided to hotel guests at the reception.

Seasonal information

A stay at Quinta do Arco is particularly rewarding during the summer months when over 1500 rose varieties are in bloom, emitting an irresistible fragrance. As a guest of the property, you naturally have unlimited and free access. However, a stay is also worthwhile in the winter months, when you can comfortably relax by the crackling fireplace in your villa with a glass of wine and reflect on your day.
