Location

The popular hotel with a magnificent sea view is terraced into the coast above the pebble beach of Arieiro. The island capital Funchal, with its lively old town and many sights, is approx. 6 km away. The charming fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is only approx. 2 km away and can be reached directly via the adjacent promenade by the sea. A free shuttle bus to Funchal runs several times a day (Monday to Friday).

The adults-only Hotel Orca Praia is modernly and comfortably furnished and offers a total of 128 rooms, a reception, elevator, lounge, sunset bar, and a panorama restaurant with a magnificent view over the Atlantic. A paved path leads to a swimming plateau at sea level, bordered by rocks, with a freshwater swimming pool, the 'Ocean' snack bar, and a sun terrace (bath towels available for a deposit, sun loungers and umbrellas included).

Double Room Sea View

Double rooms with sea view (without balcony) have the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms with Sea View, but without a balcony. There is a small step on the way from the elevator to the room. (DM)

Superior Double Room Sea View

The attractively furnished Superior Double Rooms with Sea View (approx. 28 m²) are equipped with a shower/WC, hairdryer, cable and satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, a safe (for a fee), Wi-Fi (incl.), and a balcony. All rooms have a sea view, minibar/refrigerator, kettle, and Nespresso machine (DMU).
Also bookable as a single room with a single bed (DME).
Also available as a Young Traveller Room at a special price for Summer 2026. All travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old (YTR).

Superior Double Room Sea View Type I

With the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms with Sea View, this room category can only be booked with Half Board (H) and Half Board Plus (P) meal plans (DIM).

Superior Double Room Upper Floors Sea View

These rooms are equivalent to the Superior Double Rooms with Sea View, are exclusively bookable through Schauinsland-Reisen, are located on the upper four floors, and thus offer a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Guests in this room category receive the following special services: Minibar filled upon arrival, free use of the safe, and early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability) (XO2).

Superior Double Room Upper Floor Type I Sea View

With the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms on the upper floors with Sea View, this room category can only be booked with Half Board (H) and Half Board Plus (P) meal plans (HOI).

Junior Suite Superior Sea View

The Junior Suites Superior Sea View have the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms with Sea View, but are more spacious at approx. 37 m² (2JM).

Suite Superior Sea View

The Suites Superior Sea View have the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms with Sea View, but are larger and have 2 separate bedrooms. The minimum occupancy is 4 people (SUM).

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From Pico dos Barcelos height, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional basket sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada - Black Scabbardfish - is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (Europe's highest sea cliff at 580m), then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, ascend to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. The lunch break will be taken here. The return journey will be along the north coast via Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend over the Encumeada Pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its thatched houses. The lunch break will be taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us, after approx. 1.5-hour Levada walk (difficulty level: easy), to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approx. 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).

On Christmas and New Year's Eve, the dress code is: "festive evening wear" (suit with tie and evening dress).
