Location

The hotel, part of the PortoBay Group, is located above the Lido, separated from the sea only by the promenade. The city center is approximately 2.5 km away. A shopping center with numerous stores is located very close to the hotel. The airport is approximately 19 km away.

The comfortable 4-star hotel is situated in the Vila Porto Mare resort and features 146 studios and suites. It offers its guests a lobby with reception, elevator, 4 restaurants (including a buffet restaurant), 3 bars, and internet access (free of charge). The garden area includes 2 swimming pools, a children's pool, a pool bar, and a sun terrace (sun loungers, towels, and umbrellas by the pool are included). All facilities of the Vila Porto Mare resort can be used.

Studio with partial sea view

The studios are approximately 24-26 sqm and feature a combined living/sleeping area (2 single beds, 90x200 cm) with bath/WC, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, bathrobe, air conditioning, Smart TV, telephone, safe (incl.), Wi-Fi (included), desk, seating area, kitchenette (stove, microwave, and small refrigerator) and a balcony with a partial sea view, which may be restricted depending on the location (S12). Also bookable as a studio for single occupancy (S11).

Superior Studio with partial sea view

Equipped like the studios, but slightly larger at approximately 34-40 sqm (US2). Also bookable as a Superior Studio for single occupancy (US1).
Also bookable as a Superior Studio Type O (SOU) with limited availability and at a special price.

Junior Suite with partial sea view

Feature the same amenities as the studios, but are slightly larger at approximately 38-44 sqm and consist of a living room and a separate bedroom (with 2 single beds) separated by a sliding door (JS2). Bookable as a Junior Suite for single occupancy (JS1).
Also bookable as a Junior Suite Type O with limited availability and at a special price (JSA).

Buffet breakfast.
For Half Board, breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style.
If guests with Half Board wish to dine at one of the à la carte restaurants, they will receive a credit of €17 per person per evening. Currently, 3 à la carte restaurants are open - "Alfama" (Mediterranean), "Il Basilico" (Italian), and the new restaurant "Horta" (healthy comfort food/Wednesday-Sunday).

"Sternfahrt" excursion program (subject to change / daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then proceed to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to take a ride in the traditional wicker sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – Black Scabbardfish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (Europe's highest sea cliff at 580m), then the route follows the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, ascend to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural lava swimming pools. The lunch break will be taken here. The return journey will be along the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend via the Encumeada pass (1007m), offering views of both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Depart into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue the drive to Santana, known for its traditional thatched houses. The lunch break will be taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then, return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us, after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada walk (difficulty: easy), to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
