Upgrades available upon request
Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will be implementing an "Eco-Tax." Every hotel room user in Mexico is obligated to pay a fee to the state on-site at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in effect, currently amounting to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be settled in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is recommended to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars. In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be openly integrated into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

No smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

Between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may be observed due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often a higher presence of brown algae in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, working to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of special equipment, which may produce some noise.
