Information

**************************************
Hotels in Mexico will gradually be introducing an "Eco-Tax".
As a result, every hotel room user in Mexico is obliged to pay a contribution to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into effect on 1.4.2021 and currently amounts to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican Pesos or approx. 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can also be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

For stays between April and December, increased amounts of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which generates a slight background noise.
