A tourist tax was introduced on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may be experienced due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are naturally making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
